How To Live Your Life (and not someone else’s)✨

Hello Curious Reader,

Today I’m writing about tips and tricks to live your life your way and not be dependent on other people. I feel that today’s topic plays a huge role in my life right now because I am still working on the things I want to achieve in the future which is the reason why I get sometimes a little caught up with the fact that I’m still in progress and the people around me seem to get closer to their goal day by day while I’m sitting there watching them succeed, wishing I would be in their shoes experiencing that moment when you realize “Yeah, I did it! I made it happen!”. Maybe you also feel like this at the moment. Then let’s go through this journey of living your life, finding the beauty in succeeding alone and finding the joy of being independent. I’ll guide you through those aspects while all you want to do is sit back and read. And as always the links to websites which have inspired me for this post are down below.

Now let’s get started…

The Importance:

Well, one thing you have to understand before diving any deeper into the topic is the importance and the reason why you should be living your life. Do you feel like you’re not getting the point why I’m talking about all this stuff without a seemingly end? There gotta be a reason, right?

Here they are…

#1 Nobody will live your life for you. There are so many people on this wonderful planet Earth. People will walk in your life and out of your life. It’s an never ending cycle ’till you find the people that will stick with you through the highs and the lows, most times it will be at the end of your journey. You simply can’t expect someone to be on your side forever. People change and so do you. And thank God it is that way. You grow as a human being and what if the person leading your life doesn’t fit o you anymore?

#2 You are the only one in charge of creating the life that is meant for you. You are the only one capable of leading your life. Just as your emotions can change, your way in life does too. You are the only person who can truly deeply know what you really want.

#3 You are still learning. Maybe you messed up or made the wrong choice. But continuing living your life gives you the power to take back control over the circumstances and improve them. The key thing to remember is this: As long as you’re alive, you have the chance to make changes, learn from the past, and grow as a person.

Why Not Do It For Other People:

I don’t feel like I’ll have to talk much on this subject. Just ask yourself these questions when you feel like you’re living somebody else’s life:

Are you feeling disconnected from life?

Your life is good for the most part, but you can’t help but feel disconnected from the passion and excitement that others feel about their work and life in general. The deepest part of you knows it’s possible, but you just aren’t sure where to begin.

Am I happy?

From the outside looking in you are living the American dream with a good job, enough money, and maybe even a family, but you just can’t shake the unhappiness that lies just under the surface. You can’t quite put your finger on it, but something feels “off” as you wonder, “Is this it?” You may even feel guilty for having those thoughts because there are so many other people in the world that don’t have what you do. But despite all that, you know you were meant for more.

Am I playing it safe?

At one point you had big dreams and aspirations that made you feel excited and alive, but that was before you decided it was easier to just play it safe and live life by the rules. Rules that told you to go to college, get a good job, save for retirement, take care of your family, and live happily ever after. Only you’re not. You want something more, but are afraid of the uncertainty that lies on the other side of your dreams and every time you begin to think it’s possible, you snap back to reality and recommit yourself to doing what is safe.

Do I feel like slipping away from my true self?

Am I playing it safe to fufill other peoples expection of me?

Is this me?

If you could answer all these questions, could you have found an answer for yourself? Have you realized that living your life for somebody else weakens your spirit and makes you get less of the “living and experiencing” part of your life even when you are playing it safe?

If you want you can tell me what you have already found out so far

Being Independent:

One thing you should know is that many people dream of being independent but often times it is harder than expected. You start to feel overwhelmed by the choices you can make without other people pressuring you, wanting to make that decision for you and giving you their most times unwanted advice. But I gotta be honest with you.

That’s life.

You get thrown out of you comfort zone and then have to figure out a way by yourself how to deal with it. ✨By Yourself✨ Many People get confronted with it from time to time because of their need to grow and to change. You have to realize that staying in your comfort zone doesn’t bring you anywhere. Maybe for some people does, but for the majority of them it just doesn’t work out. You hear lots and lots of people talking in the Internet about how they had that point in their life where they just had to figure out a way which was important for their future. They didn’t hide from that difficulty, they knew that it was time to change and they did it. They did the whole thing, from start to finish. And that’s why I’m writing about this right now. Just because your life might not be looking that shiny and sparkling doesn’t mean that you’re not at the place where those successful people are. No, it’s the total opposite you simply are at the place where they’ve started.

The only things that will get you to the place you want to be are courage, hard work, motivation and independence. It will take everything from you and at some point you don’t even know why you started. But let me tell you something, there are so many people believing in you, including me, so why shouldn’t you do it too? Believe in yourself that you will succeed.

How to get in charge of your life:

Now we’ve finally come to the most awaited part of this little journey;) Well, without a lot of writing, let’s get right into the tips and tricks I’ve prepared for the end of the getting in charge of your life guide…

#1 Live every day on a fresh new start. Don’t be held back by what happened yesterday, the day before, the week before, the year before, or even decades ago. Life is short, so live in the present moment.

#2 Be true to who you are. Stop trying to please other people or to be someone else. It’s better to be an original version of yourself rather than be an exact duplicate of someone else.

#3 Create your own opportunities. You can wait for opportunities, or you can get out there and create your own. The latter is definite and much more empowering.

#4 Live consciously each day. Stop sleepwalking through life. Your life is something to be experienced, not coasted through.

#5 Be committed to your growth. Take courses. Self-reflect. Build on your strengths. Don’t rely on the feeling of familiarity but focus on what will enable you to grow the most.

#6 Do the things you love because life is too precious to be doing anything else. If you don’t enjoy something, then don’t do it. Spend your time and energy on things that bring you fulfillment and happiness.

#7 Be positive. Is the glass half empty or half full? What if I say it’s neither? It’s actually all-full – the bottom half is water, the top half is air. It’s all a matter of perception. Take on perceptions that empower you, not those that bind you. If you can see the positive side of everything, you’ll be able to live a much richer life than others.

#8 Keep learning. There is something to learn from everything you see, hear and experience. This includes your mistakes. Learn to interpret each event objectively. Focus on what you can learn from it so that you can apply the lessons moving forward.

#9 Try new things. What is something you would normally not do? Get out of your comfort zone to try something different. It can be something simple like taking a new bus route, trying a new food item, picking up a new hobby, or something bigger like studying in a different field, learning a new skill, and traveling to a country you’ll never visit. There are no limits (except whatever is illegal and morally wrong of course)!

#10 Maximize your mind, body, heart and soul. Living your best life requires you to maximize yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. If you are highly successful, have lots of money, have a big circle of friends, and are very spiritually aware but you neglect your physical health, that’s not living your life to the fullest. The same for other scenarios where you block off a part of you. Maximize all 4 aspects of you.

#11 Love yourself. You are the one constant in your life. Remember to always treasure and love yourself. ♥ You deserve nothing less.

#12 Last but not least: Love life. I find living to be a fascinating experience. How we’re all on earth with millions of species, 30,000 different life forms, and over 7 billion people, and everyone is thriving in their own way, existing, co-existing, and co-creating. There’s so much we don’t know out there and so much to be experienced that it’s just wonderful. As you live on earth, remember to love life. It’s the only way we have to live…
